Why are You Interested in Working at VentureOut?

I’m passionate about working for VentureOut because is the perfect combination of my life experiences, professional competencies, and my personal passions. I know that in order to be truly exceptional at something, you must be intrinsically motivated, not only by success in the tangible metrics, but also by progressing the bigger picture; an excitement for taking something good and working to turn it into something truly great.

When I first learned that my initial company, FYBS, had been accepted to the Fownders accelerator program and would have to move from Boston to New York, I was less than thrilled. There were a number of reasons I’d chosen Boston as my homebase…but it took a fair bit of retrospective introspection to understand how, even though I felt I was making the decision based on logic and an authentic assessment at the time, this ‘assessment’ was performed using the wrong KPIs. I had unintentionally placed a number of factors and considerations before the most important one; the simple question of what was in the best interest of my business.

It didn’t take long to see just how quickly the move to New York positively impacted my startup; from processes, to access to financial & human capital, and most profoundly, the evolutionary development of my entrepreneurial mindset. As an American citizen brought up in the world of entrepreneurship. Even with parents running their own companies since I was born and I two brothers possessing extensive knowledge of the modern tech startup & accelerator space (TechStars10 & YC19), I still had a tremendous amount of ignorance and resistance regarding the value and the depth opportunities available, not just to me, but to my business, through a New York City relocation.

Even with all of this knowledge and data available to me, the combo of which likely put me in the top 1% of all global entrepreneurs resource wise, I still managed to waste so much time in analysis paralysis, an impediment that no doubt this had a negative impact on my business.  Acknowledging the ease of access to information that was available to me and noting the still persistent resistance in accepting what New York City would mean for my business further highlights the need for VentureOut for the next generation of Innovative Though Leaders who are trying to make these same decisions and doing so on their own.

As a member of the VentureOut team, my priority will be reducing this similar learning curve, helping founders discover the opportunities available to them earlier in their entrepreneurial journey. I will work to bridge the gap for our global startup community so they may truly leverage the infinite resources that exist in New York throughout every stage of their business development, propelling their teams, their products, and their ability to produce meaningful impact.
